Dr. Guadalupe Mireles-Toumayan

President of West Chapter Santa Monica AMAE

Dr. Guadalupe Mireles-Toumayan is an educator at Santa Monica High School. She is also a   Teacher’s Supervisor at California State University of Northridge. She was born in Mexico, Jalisco and raised in Mexico City. She currently lives in Los Angeles,California. Dr. Mireles-Toumayan is a motivated, enthusiastic educator with 17 + experience fostering a cohesive student learning atmosphere. She holds her CA Teaching Credential, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She earned a BA Spanish/Literature, Masters in Education, and Doctorate in Eduational Leadership degrees combined from California State University of Northridge, and Harvard University. Her dissertation is about “Teacher’s experiences with Latino Parents”. Currently Dr. Guadalupe Mireles-Toumayan is the president of Mexican American Educators Association AMAE 

Dr. Mireles-Toumayan takes her personal experiences in order to implement her teaching methods. She strives to create a community of learners than nurtures this growth in a positive, fun environment. Dr. Mireles-Toumayan has a true passion for working with all students. She feels that living in different countries and learning their languages, have given her a better understanding of the process of teaching a foreing language. Dr. Mireles-Toumayan is committed to students’ success inside of the classroom and in life. Her core values reflect the rich and diverse Latino culture and history. She takes time to honor families and communities, and foster intercultural understanding to empower Latino students to overcome the challenges they face and make their voices heard in the community. She has been married for many years to Samuel Toumayan from Boston Massachusetts, and has an amazing daughter Estella Toumayan who is a senior in High School. She loves to watch Estella swim and surf. Dr. Guadalupe, with the support of her husband Samuel, her mother Estela, Sister Ines, and the love of her daughter, plus pet Charlie has become someone who students can trust, and who will always go the extra mile to ensure their success.
